Why Your Old Bra Could Help Beat Breast Cancer
There’s one drawer we all avoid opening, the one full of bras that have seen better days (or we have never even worn!). Straps stretched, colours washed out, cups that don’t quite cup anymore and wire that dig in all the wrong places. They sit there, taking up space, waiting for “someday.”
Well, today is that day. Because those old bras can do something incredible: they can help fund breast-cancer research, support women across the world, and protect the planet too.
💗 How the Mish Bra Bank works
All year round, our Bra Bank is open in-store for you to drop off any bras you no longer wear.
From there, our partner Against Breast Cancer sorts them into four journeys:

Brand new or designer bras
Sold online through charity platforms like eBay, Depop or Vinted, raising direct funds for vital breast-cancer research. -
Good-quality, wearable bras
Exported and sold through small businesses overseas, helping women earn a living and giving your bra a valuable second life. -
Unwearable bras
Broken down into their component parts, fabrics, wires, fastenings, and recycled responsibly so nothing ends up in landfill. -
Research funding
Every penny raised through these routes goes straight to Against Breast Cancer, supporting ongoing work into the prevention, detection and treatment of secondary breast cancer.
It’s the perfect example of circular fashion, your unwanted lingerie gets a new purpose, supports other women, and fuels vital research at the same time.

Most of us know someone who’s been touched by breast cancer. And while October shines a spotlight on the cause, awareness truly saves lives all year round.
That’s why we’ve also supported Coppafeel!, who spread the simple but powerful message:
“Knowing your normal could save your life.”
They remind us to check regularly, learn what’s normal for our bodies, and speak up if something changes.
