Just over a month ago Panache launched their new campaign, ‘Modelled by Role Models’. It shares the awe-inspiring stories of a group of women who have achieved incredible things in their lives. So far we have shared with you the successes of Hannah and Martyna.

Today we…

Meet: MICA PARIS

British singer and presenter, Mica Paris, grew up in her grandparent’s church before becoming a backup singer at the young age of 17. In the early 1990’s she released her platinum selling album ‘Contribution’, and went on to releasing 2 other albums, and taking part in West End shows ‘Mama I Want To Sing’ and ‘Sweet Lorraine’.

Although she remained behind her microphone, in 2002 Mica tried her hand in presenting and hosted the TV programme ‘Soul Solutions’ before writing her book called ‘Beautiful Within: Finding happiness and confidence in your own skin’.

Mica Paris is a patron of many charities including the Space for Music Foundation and the Amy Winehouse Foundation, along with supporting the ‘No Means No’ campaign, which fights against inequality and abuse towards women.

WHAT MAKES A STRONG ROLE MODEL IS SOMEONE WHO’S NOT THINKING ABOUT BEING A ROLE MODEL. SOMEONE WHO IS PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO AND IS DRIVEN TO ACHIEVE GREATNESS. IT’S ABOUT LEAVING SOMETHING FABULOUS FOR THE WORLD TO ENJOY, EVEN WHEN YOU’RE NOT HERE ANYMORE. Mica Paris, Singer and Charity Campaigner

A couple of weeks we had our first ever photoshoot! Exciting stuff right? The lovely Lisa from Kernow Dream Photography amazingly turned our shop here in Bodmin, into a wonderful studio for the day.

The shoot was for the Bandelettes, that you’ve all been going crazy for! We’ve paired them up with some of our classic lingerie sets, such as the Gossard Superboost in black.

Doesn’t Tash look lovely?! (psst. She’s also a vintage style makeup artist)

The second part of our shoot was for our exciting new campaign #MarilynsSecret. Just in case you’ve missed what it’s about, we would love for you to join us in recreating Marilyn Monroe’s famous image, you know the one, where her dress floats up! But this time show us a cheeky peek of those Bandelettes underneath. Each week we’ll be picking a winner, so why not get involved?

Here’s a couple of the final shots! The stunning white dress and petticoat is by Oh My Honey. Definitely worth checking out!

Last time on the blog we introduced you to the amazing Hannah Cockroft – if you happened to have missed it, you can catch up here.

Today, we want to share with you the beautifully selfless story of Martyna.

Meet: MARTYNA KACZMAREK

The ‘Day in the Life’ campaign was launched after Martyna Kaczmarek decided to donate blood on her 18th birthday at a regional blood centre in Poland. Martyna used her own personal experience of donating blood and initiated the idea of organising blood drives at her own school. The first blood drive was a huge success and the ‘Day in the Life’ campaign was born; now a registered charity hosting blood drives in schools and sports stadiums across Poland.

Martyna is credited with motivating countless young people and adults alike to consider the idea of donation, with her ‘Day For Life’ campaign having expanded to several major cities across Poland. There’s no better role model than an individual dedicating their time, efforts and talents to an important cause that will save thousands of lives every year.

I THINK WHAT MAKES A STRONG ROLE MODEL IS CREATIVITY, INDIVIDUALITY AND THE ABILITY TO OVERCOME OBSTACLES. I FEEL HONOURED AND PROUD THAT I’M CONSIDERED TO BE A FEMALE ROLE MODEL. Martyna Kaczmarek, Campaigner

Last Tuesday Mish was lucky enough to have attended the launch of the Panache campaign ‘Modelled by Role Models‘ at the BAFTA in London, it was a great night, and a truly inspirational campaign.

Modelled by Role Models celebrates six female role models – each chosen for their individual strengths, achievements and contributions to society, as well as their healthy approach to body image. In an industry so focused on physical attributes, Panache felt compelled to champion the next generation of role models.

All the ladies modeling in the campaign are beautiful, but they are also, so much more. Every single one of them has completed outstanding achievements, often showing great selflessness and drive to help others.

We want to share their stories with you.

Meet: HANNAH COCKROFT

Hannah_Panache_Clara_Balconnet_7255_Nude_04.jpg

Hannah Cockroft MBE, is on the Great Britain Paralympic development team. Born in July 1992, Hannah suffered 2 cardiac arrests, which resulted in damage to 2 areas of her brain and left her with deformity to her legs and feet and weakened hips.

Not letting this dampen her spirits Hannah started her sporting career on both the paralympic basketball and discus teams before moving on to solely concentrate on wheelchair racing in her early teens.

In 2010 Hannah broke her first world record in the T34 400m and now holds the world records at T34 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m. In June 2010 she broke 7 world records in 8 days, at the same time as becoming ‘Prom Queen’, completing her A-Level exams and competing in her first ever-International overseas competition.

In 2011 Hannah was nominated for the IPC World Athletics Championships, held in New Zealand. Her senior debut on the Great Britain team saw her bring home 2 Gold medal thus causing fans to call her Hurricane Hannah. She went on to be awarded an MBE for services to athletics in 2013 and winning the IPC Euorpean Champion T34 100 Gold & T34 800 Gold in 2014.

“THE ADVICE THAT I’D GIVE TO ANYONE WHO WANTED TO FOLLOW WHAT I DO IS GRAB EVERY OPPORTUNITY THAT THEY’RE GIVEN. DON’T BE SCARED – GO OUT, GRAB IT AND ENJOY IT!” Hannah Cockroft, Paralympian
